Who Controls Your Media? Do You?
A couple of days ago, Seth Godin wrote a small piece on media and control. He noted that back in the day – he says 1966 – media was controlled by NBC, CBS and ABC.
As we enter the second decade of the 21st Century, the world is completely different. We’ve got twenty hours of video being uploaded to YouTube.com every minute. You’ve got thousands of web sites covering every imaginable subject with new ones coming online every day.
Seth’s point is it’s up to us to choose what media we expose ourselves to on a daily basis. He cites Facebook as a potential energy drain. Twitter as an addiction. I’d add email to that list.
To keep up with daily biotechnology news, I used to spend time in the morning and in the evening reviewing newsfeeds, surfing from one site to another. In reality, most of the sites are covering the same topics. News is news. And it’s another addiction.
To save time, I’ve aggregated my feeds using Allop.com. If you’re looking for a place that aggregates life sciences, biotech and start-up news (plus some movie news) in one place, check out my feed.
