Autoblog had a feature on the Skoda Yeti, which may go into production as Roomster.
While in general we are opposed to SUVs, we think the Yeti concept is exciting – the car will compete against Ford’s Escape, Honda’s CRV, Mitsubishi’s Endeavor and Toyota’s RAV4, and VW’s recently announced Beduin – but, it won’t do it in the U.S.
[In Panama, where you can buy Peugeots, Renaults, Rextons, SsangYongs, you see a lot of Skodas. Skoda, the Czech automaker, is owned by and considered a cheaper alternative to VW, as is Spanish carmaker Seat.]
For a mini-SUV, the Yeti name had a lot going for it – a lot more than Roomster. The only thing Roomster has going for it is that it sounds like no other SUV name. It’s just too bad it sounds so much like Friendster.
