Here’s a useful resource for all the inspired start-up founders and the marketing challenged, a reading list for your own personal MBA via Josh Kaufman’s Inside My Bald Head.
There are more than a few great books on here, including my personal faves, David Allen’s “Getting Things Done,” Guy Kawasaki’s “The Art of the Start,” Robert Cialdini’s “Persuasion,” and Peter Block’s “Flawless Consulting” (a classic!).
I’m not much of a Seth Godin fan (though he admittedly can be provactive and you can learn a lot from his self-marketing, so am disappointed that the marketing books are dominated by three of his texts. The original PMBA had more expansive marketing section.
Overall. the list is very good and is a great start and there are a few books on there that I’m going to have to read.
Hopefully, future mutations will include a PMBA in Marketing, Finance, Management, Real Estate and a version that is completely Internet-based (online summaries of the above books and web sites that provide you with the same information).
Update August 1, 2005: Looks like more than one person mentioned the Seth Godin duplication. Josh took down the two Godin books and gives a link to a summary of the salient points of both. Replacements for those books have already been recommended.
