Americans Support Online Personal Health Records, IF…

October 12th, 2005 · No Comments

According to a survey by the Markle Foundation, 72 percent of Americans say they favor a nationwide electronic info exchange to share their personal health information with authorized individuals quickly, privately, and securely via the Internet.

Interestingly, more than three out of four Americans (79%) said making sure their records could be shared only after they provide permission is a priority. And, eighty-one percent of respondents wanted to know who had access to their personal health information.

The numbers are compelling. It’ll be interesting to see how the entire electronic medical record/personal health record thing plays out given privacy concerns.

I’ll have to do a little investigating to see what the big privacy agencies are saying.
